Blu Dot surpasses 2,000% ROAS with self-serve CTV ads

Home furniture brand Blu Dot blew up on CTV with help from Roku Ads Manager. Here’s how:

After a test campaign reached 211,000 households and achieved 1,010% ROAS, the brand went all in to promote its annual sales event. It removed age and income constraints to expand reach and shifted budget to custom audiences and retargeting, where intent was strongest.

The results speak for themselves. As Blu Dot increased their investment by 10x, ROAS jumped to 2,308% and more page-view conversions surpassed 50,000.

“For CTV campaigns, Roku has been a top performer,” said Claire Folkestad, Paid Media Strategist, Blu Dot. “Comping to our other platforms, we have seen really strong ROAS… and highly efficient CPMs, lower than any other CTV partner we've worked with.”

Using Roku Ads Manager, the campaign moved from a pilot to a permanent performance engine for the brand.

🌍 MACRO BACKDROP — THE BIG PICTURE

This is a headline-dependent, risk-off session built on three converging forces: an escalating Iran conflict that just added a genuine new dimension (attacks on US assets in Europe, not just the Gulf), a chip-sector unwind that dragged global markets lower overnight, and a Fed that's about to hand traders its most contentious minutes release in months.

Tuesday's cash session told the story plainly: the S&P 500 closed at 7,691.76, down 53.30 points (-0.69%), the Nasdaq Composite fell -1.33%, and the Dow eased roughly -0.22%, with the damage concentrated almost entirely in semiconductors — the sector benchmark cratered -5.5% as elevated bond yields and profit-taking hit the AI trade after a blistering multi-month run. Overnight, that selloff exported itself directly into Asia: KOSPI fell -5.80% and triggered a sell-side sidecar, while the Nikkei dropped -3.16% to a two-week low, with Samsung, SK Hynix, and Kioxia all down high single-to-double digits.

Layered on top of the chip unwind is a genuine geopolitical escalation. Trump ruled out further Iran talks on Tuesday and threatened to "bomb Oman" if it interferes with the US posture in the Strait of Hormuz, while confirming the US naval blockade remains active. Oil responded immediately — Brent near $91.50, WTI near $85 — the highest levels in roughly three weeks. Overnight, the Financial Times reported Iran has weighed striking US military assets in Europe (Bulgaria's Bezmer air base, Cyprus) if Trump escalates further — a meaningful widening of the conflict's theoretical scope that multiple outlets (CNBC, Seeking Alpha, i24News) have now independently confirmed.

Trader awareness statement: This is a HEADLINE-DEPENDENT session. With FOMC minutes at 2PM ET, four major retail earnings reports before the bell, and an active geopolitical escalation track, expect elevated intraday volatility and be prepared to react to news in real time rather than trading a fixed thesis all day.

🤖 STOCK MARKET NEWS — SECTOR BY SECTOR

🔥 HOT SECTOR #1: SEMICONDUCTORS / AI INFRASTRUCTURE

A Violent Reversal in the Market's Most Crowded Trade

Tuesday's -5.5% hit to the semiconductor index wasn't noise — it's the sharpest single-day move in this sector in months, and it exported directly overnight into Samsung (-7.5% to -7.8%), SK Hynix (-8.8% to -9.75%), and Kioxia (-12.6%). The proximate cause was a combination of rising Treasury yields (the 30-year hit a 19-year high this week) pressuring long-duration growth names, plus straightforward profit-taking after an extraordinary multi-month AI-driven run. Ironically, the selloff came on the same day NVDA confirmed a genuinely bullish structural catalyst — H200 chips now flowing into China via ByteDance and Tencent, roughly 10,000 units each — proof that the China re-entry story is real, not speculative. NVDA still closed down (~-2.3% per the CNN print, though sources vary — confirm at open), which tells you this was a macro/rates unwind, not a fundamentals problem.
