1. 🏦 Fed Chair Kevin Warsh Hikes — Market Shrugs It Off — Wednesday's unanimous rate hike (first in 3+ years) rattled nothing. SPY closed +1.13% Thursday at $762.60 and premarket futures are grinding higher again — the "sell the hike" trade never showed up.

🌍 MACRO BACKDROP — THE BIG PICTURE

This is a central bank whiplash session. Wednesday's Fed decision — Chair Kevin Warsh's first hike since taking the gavel, and the first Fed hike in more than three years — landed unanimously and was telegraphed to be followed by one more hike before year-end. Warsh's post-decision language was notably terse: "This summer's inflation readings do not tell me that underlying trends have meaningfully improved." Despite that hawkish framing, stocks jumped, not dumped — SPY closed Thursday up 1.13% to $762.60, QQQ up 1.73%, and the rally is following through into Friday's premarket.

Overnight, the Bank of Japan hiked 25bp to 1.25% — its highest level since 1995 — in a contentious 7-2 vote. Governor Ueda's press conference leaned dovish/neutral on forward pace, which sent USD/JPY ripping over 1% higher. Citigroup moved up its BoJ hike forecast to December 2026, March and July 2027 (from a prior January/June/December 2027 path) — this is a faster tightening path than the market had priced, worth watching for yen-carry unwind risk into US hours.

Layer on top of that: President Trump publicly reaffirmed confidence in Warsh while simultaneously demanding rates be cut to "1% or less" — a Fed-independence storyline that isn't going away and could resurface as a volatility catalyst at any Trump presser today.

This is a HEADLINE-DEPENDENT session. With quadruple witching today, expect exaggerated intraday swings around option-related flows layered on top of the macro crosscurrents.
