⚡ 5 THINGS TO KNOW RIGHT NOW — BEFORE THE BELL

  1. 🔑 Monday was a blowout session — SPY closed $773.50 (+1.55%) and QQQ closed $741.47 (+2.77%), the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 posting their best days since early August as a tech-fueled rally collided with falling oil prices. Bloomberg

🌍 MACRO BACKDROP — THE BIG PICTURE

We're closing out a monster Monday session and walking into a headline-dependent Tuesday. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 just posted their best days since early August, with chipmakers leading as the AI trade regained its footing and oil prices/Treasury yields fell together. That's the kind of "everything works" tape that traders live for — but it's also the kind of tape that gets tested hard the very next session. BloombergCharles Schwab

The dominant theme remains de-risking on two fronts at once: geopolitical (Iran/Hormuz) and regulatory (crypto). On the geopolitical side, oil sold off hard into the close and overnight as traders priced in a lower risk premium tied to the Iran Strait of Hormuz chatter. On the regulatory side, the SEC's move to open a temporary path for tokenized-stock trading, paired with the CFTC sending crypto market rules to the White House for review, reduced perceived regulatory overhang on crypto two days after the Clarity Act stalled in the Senate — and that combination lit a fuse under Bitcoin, Coinbase, Circle, and Strategy. CNBC

We're also deep into "window dressing" season — fund managers shifting positions ahead of quarter-end reports to clients — which tends to amplify moves in both directions as institutional money squares books. Layer that on top of a Fed-speaker-heavy calendar and this is a session where headline risk outweighs technical setup. Don't marry a thesis before 10:30 AM ET. Charles Schwab

Trader awareness statement: this is a HEADLINE-DEPENDENT session — Iran/Hormuz confirmation or denial, and any Fed-speaker deviation from script, can both move the tape violently in either direction.

🤖 STOCK MARKET NEWS — SECTOR BY SECTOR

🔥 HOT SECTOR #1: COMMUNICATION SERVICES / MEGA-CAP AI 🤖

The Sector That Refuses to Slow Down

XLC's +3.56% day dwarfed every other sector, and it's coming almost entirely from the mega-cap AI/platform complex. NVDA is holding a jaw-dropping $5.507T market cap at $226.57, GOOGL sits at $354.14 ($4.258T), and META closed at $743.28 ($1.888T). This is the same complex that's driven chipmakers higher as the AI trade regains its footing after a rougher August. The DCG desk has flagged this concentration before: when three or four names carry a sector this hard, it's a leadership trade, not a value trade — respect the momentum, but know your exit.
